Timmy was the oldest member of the second-generation, born well before Edward and Lydia came along, but it was still such a shock when he passed away from old age.
Jane, Brynne, and Sophie were heart-broken, and Joshua had a difficult time going through his teenage years without the guidance of a father.
Also, that year, a tragic kitchen fire left Isabella and Edward without a mother and wife. Edward's whole life revolved around Eleanor. He was a middle child and never really felt he was a part of the family. Eleanor was pretty, outgoing, and charming. She encouraged Edward to spend time with his family and helped care for his mother when she was dying. Edward didn't know how he would face life without her. Meanwhile Isabella was preparing to find a husband and start her own family all without the guidance of her loving mother.
