Lydia had finished school for the year and convinced her parents to let her travel with Timmy, promising to help with all household chores- to practice for the day when she would have her own home. She also promised to continue her painting and music studies while away.
Finally, Timothy and Evelyn agreed. Truthfully, it wouldn't be at all uncommon for Lydia to find a husband well before Timmy finished tending to his new house and began looking for a wife of his own. Lydia was still young, but older than most who were married and starting a family.
Evelyn was quite devastated but agreed that it was the best thing for her daughter who had grown restless this last year of school and felt hopeless about finding a husband with the lack of eligible young men in their neighborhood.
After a few days' travel, they arrived in the valley. It didn't take long for Timmy to make a deal with the house owner. They moved in their belongings and began to make the house a home.
